Récemment, les ergothérapeutes s’intéressent à l’impact que peut avoir leur pratique sur l’environnement. En effet, leur pratique agit sur les occupations humaines qui constituent la cause principale du réchauffement climatique. Les personnes en situation de handicap sont parfois amenées à se procurer des aides techniques pour favoriser leur indépendance et autonomie. L’objectif de cette étude est de déterminer dans quelle mesure l’économie circulaire est-elle possible dans la pratique de l’ergothérapie. A cet effet, un questionnaire et cinq entretiens semi-directifs ont été menés auprès d’ergothérapeutes et d’un conseiller technique pratiquant l’économie circulaire. L’ensemble des ergothérapeutes interrogés estime que la préconisation des aides techniques, dans le cadre de l’économie circulaire, favorise la promotion de la poursuite d’occupations durables chez les bénéficiaires. Par conséquent, l’économie circulaire contribue à la durabilité dans le système de santé. Les progrès dans ce domaine sont en constante évolution.

Recently, occupational therapists have become interested in the impact their practice can have on environment. Indeed, their practice has an impact on human occupations which are the main cause of global warming. People with disabilities are sometimes required to purchase assistive devices to promote their independence and autonomy. The aim of this study is to determine to what extent circular economy is possible in occupational therapy practice. To this end, a questionnaire and five semi-structured interviews were conducted with occupational therapists and a technical advisor practising circular economy. All the occupational therapists interviewed felt that the recommendation of assistive devices, within the framework of the circular economy, promotes the pursuit of sustainable occupations among beneficiaries. Therefore, the circular economy contributes to developing sustainability in the health system. Progress is ongoing.
