La Sclérose Latérale Amyotrophique est une maladie neurodégénérative incurable qui conduit au décès du patient généralement dans les 5 ans après le diagnostic. Les patients perdent progressivement la communication verbale et la question du maintien à domicile se pose. Le but de cette étude est d’établir si la collaboration entre l’ergothérapeute, le patient et son aidant familial favorise l’utilisation quotidienne de l’aide technique à la communication. Les trois populations ont été interviewées afin de recueillir le point de vue de chacun et d’obtenir le plus d’informations possible. Trois ergothérapeutes, quatre patients et leurs aidants familiaux respectifs ont été interviewés dans le cadre de cette étude, soit 11 entretiens semi directifs au total. Les résultats de cette enquête montrent que tous les ergothérapeutes interrogés demandent à collaborer avec les aidants familiaux pour personnaliser l’aide technique à la communication du patient. Pour les patients et leurs aidants familiaux, les réponses sont plus partagées concernant cette étape. Cependant, ils estiment que la collaboration est essentielle dans la prise en charge du patient et pour le maintien de la communication au domicile. Ils confirment que l’aide technique à la communication est davantage utilisée au quotidien avec l’intervention de l’ergothérapeute. L’hypothèse initiale est validée par les résultats de l’enquête, mais c’est à l’ergothérapeute d’initier cette relation de confiance si elle n’apparaît pas comme étant évidente pour le patient et son aidant familial.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is an incurable neurodegenerative disease which causes the death of the patient generally within 5 years. Patients gradually loose verbal communication and the question of home care arises. The purpose of this study is to see if the collaboration between the occupational therapist, the patient and his family caregiver promotes the day-to-day use of technical communication assistance. The three populations were interviewed in order to obtain everyone's point of view and as much information as possible. Three occupational therapists, four patients and their respective family caregivers were interviewed for this study, 11 interviews in total. The results of this survey show that all the occupational therapists interviewed ask to collaborate with family caregivers for the personalization of technical communication assistance. For patients and their caregivers, the answers are more mixed regarding this step. However, they believe that collaboration is essential in the global care of the patient and in maintaining communication at home. They confirm that technical communication assistance is better used on a daily basis with the intervention of the occupational therapist. The initial hypothesis is validated by the survey results, however, it is up to the occupational therapist to initiate this relationship of trust if it does not appear obvious to the patient and his family caregiver.
