La paraplégie est une pathologie qui entraîne une paralysie des deux membres inférieurs. La population touchée par cette affection est plutôt jeune et en âge d’avoir des enfants. Ces personnes peuvent traverser différentes transitions occupationnelles importantes dont celle de devenir parent.
L’objectif de ce mémoire est d’étudier l’impact de l’utilisation de l’aménagement de l’environnement par les ergothérapeutes sur la transition occupationnelle vers la parentalité des personnes paraplégiques.
Afin de répondre à ce questionnement, une enquête basée sur des entretiens a été réalisée auprès d’ergothérapeutes accompagnant des personnes paraplégiques dans leur parentalité. Celle-ci étudie les besoins en accompagnement, la période d’accompagnement par les ergothérapeutes, et l’action de l’aménagement de l’environnement sur la participation occupationnelle et la transition occupationnelle de ces personnes.
Les résultats montrent que l’aménagement de l’environnement est l’un des outils utilisés par les ergothérapeutes pour favoriser la transition occupationnelle des personnes paraplégiques vers leur parentalité. Cependant, les avis divergent en ce qui concerne l’action de la transition occupationnelle sur la participation occupationnelle.

Paraplegia is a pathology that leads to paralysis of both lower limbs. The population affected by this condition tends to be young and of child-bearing age. These people can undergo a number of important occupational transitions, including that of becoming a parent. The aim of this thesis is to study the impact of the use of environmental adaptation by occupational therapists on the occupational transition to parenthood of people with paraplegia.
In order to answer this question, an interview-based survey was carried out with occupational therapists accompanying paraplegics in their parenthood. The survey examined the need for accompaniment, the period of accompaniment by occupational therapists, and the impact of environmental adaptation on the occupational participation and transition of these people.
The results show that environmental adaptation is one of the tools used by occupational therapists to help paraplegics make the transition to parenthood. However, opinions differ as to the effect of occupational transition on occupational participation. - Créteil
