psychanalyste.
Apports : Theoretical analysis shows that creative mediation allows individuals to express
emotions that are difficult to put into words, restores self-esteem, and reconnects with others.
By enabling individuals to regain an active role in meaningful activities, it supports the
reconstruction of their occupational identity.
Conclusion.

Context: Reactive depression is a depressive disorder that appears in response to a painful life
event, such as an accident, serious illness, or loss. This event can cause a biographical rupture,
that is, a break in the course of a person's life, which disrupts their habits, roles, and self-image.
In occupational therapy, this translates into a disturbance of occupational identity, defined in
the Model of Human Occupation (MOH) as "a subjective amalgam of what the person is and
what they wish to become."
Objective: This thesis examines how creative interventions in occupational therapy contribute
to the reconstruction of occupational identity in individuals suffering from reactive depression
following a traumatic event.
Theoretical framework: This work is based on several concepts. Reactive depression is
addressed using international classifications (DSM-5, ICD-10) as well as the work of Nasio
(2012) and Lemperière et al. (2006), which help to understand its causes and how it manifests.
Identity is then defined based on Muchielli (cited in Citeau & Engelhardt-Bitrian, 2007) and
subsequently related to the concept of occupational identity from Kielhofner's Model of
Occupational Health (Doussin-Antzer & Mignet, 2024). Finally, the role of the occupational
therapist and the therapeutic effects of creative interventions are demonstrated by the work of
Pibarot (2016), Klein (2016), Simonnet-Guéreau (2014), Bagnères (2014), and Brun (2011,
2019), a psychoanalyst.
Contributions: Theoretical analysis shows that creative mediations allow for the symbolic
expression of emotions and experiences that are difficult to put into words. They also contribute
to restoring a sense of self and self-esteem through the creation of a concrete object. They also
foster the re-establishment of connection with others and the environment. By enabling
individuals to regain an active role and re-engage in meaningful activities, they directly support
the reconstruction of occupational identity.
Conclusion: Creative mediations, used within a structured occupational therapy framework
and within an appropriate therapeutic relationship, appear to be a relevant tool for supporting
individuals with reactive depression in the reconstruction of their occupational identity after a
life event. - IFE ADERE
