  • Nowadays the link between occupational therapy and oncology isn’t much developed and rare are the occupational therapists who work in this field. However, breast cancer and its treatments lead to a few difficulties such as cognitive impairment which limits the return to work. The occupational therapist works with these difficulties in several other pathologies like stroke or head trauma. However, in France, there isn’t any care offer for these issues in the case of breast cancer. Thus, this dissertation is about the occupational therapist’s place in the care of cognitive impairments due to breast cancer and its treatments, in order to get back to work. Through an inductive method and a focus group, two women with breast cancer experiences has been analyzed to compare experiment data to our reasoning. The results point out that the occupational therapist has several skills and tools which enable him to improve the patient’s capacity performance and in consequence making the return to work easier. Because of this, the occupational therapist is a leading health professional in meeting these women’s expectations.
