Contexte : L’ergothérapeute travaille dans une multitude d’endroits. Pourtant, en France, les études durent trois ans, sans spécialisation. L’orientation vers un poste se base donc sur les représentations de l’étudiant. Objectif : Cette étude cherche à savoir comment la volition, concept développé par Kielhofner, influence les représentations à chaque nouvelle expérience. Méthode : Une recherche qualitative diachronique a été réalisée, à partir de quatre entretiens. Résultats : Cette recherche met en évidence l’évolution des représentations de l’étudiant en fonction de sa volition : ses valeurs, ses intérêts et sa causalité. Elle montre aussi que la volition permet à l’étudiant d’adapter ses attentes à l’expérience vécue. Conclusion : L’engagement dans une activité, comme un premier poste, sera favorisée si la dernière représentation en lien avec cette activité est cohérente avec la volition de l’étudiant.

Context: The occupational therapist works in a variety of places. Yet in France, studies last three years, without specialization. Professional specialization is therefore based on the representations of the student. Objective: This study explores how volition, concept developed by Kielhofner, influences representations to each new experience. Method: A diachronic qualitative research was conducted to address the role of volition on representations, from four interviews. Results: This research highlights the evolution of representations of the student according to their volition: its values, its interests and its causality. It also shows that volition allows the student to adjust their expectations for the experience. Conclusion: Engagement in an activity, as a first job, will be promoted if the last representation in connection with this activity is consistent with the volition of the student.
