L’entrée dans la parentalité est un grand bouleversement dans la vie de beaucoup d’adultes qui peuvent amener des difficultés spécifiques dans les occupations parentales lorsque l’on vit avec un handicap moteur. L’objectif de l’étude est de montrer le rôle de l’ergothérapeute comme soutien à l’autonomisation de ces parents ou futurs parents.
Cette étude qualitative repose sur quatre entretiens semi-directifs auprès d’ergothérapeutes travaillant en structures et dispositifs dédiés à la parentalité des personnes vivant avec un handicap.
Les résultats montrent que les ergothérapeutes s’appuient sur un accompagnement centré sur le parent et ses besoins et sur l’apport de solutions techniques afin de soutenir sa participation et le développement de son autonomisation.
On pourrait envisager que l’ergothérapie puisse se retrouver dans toutes les parentalités, au-delà des seules situations de handicap, de part les notions de rôle, de transition et d’équilibre occupationnel qui y sont attachés.

Becoming parents is a life-changing experience representing a significant turning point in the lives of many adults which can bring some specific difficulties into parenting occupations when we have a motor disability. The goal of this study is to show the role of occupational therapy as empowerment’s support for these parents or future parents. This qualitative study is based on four semi-directive interviews with occupational therapists working in structures and systems dedicated to parenting for people living with a disability The results show that occupational therapists rely on support centered on parents and their needs and on the contribution of technical solutions in order to support their participation and the development of their self-sufficiency. We could consider that occupational therapy could be found in all parenting situations, beyond just situations of disability, due to the notions of role, transition and occupational balance that are attached to occupational therapy.
