Pediatric eating disorders are an invisible everyday handicap. From the period of dietary
diversification onwards, the diagnosis of this disorder is made more difficult for children with no
associated disorder. Occupational therapy support is essential to help children and their families to cooccupy themselves with meals at home. In this context, occupational therapists use specific approaches to establish strategies and tools for families. The aim is to create a link and support the achievements of the sessions in the home. The analysis tool is a semi-directive interview, conducted by videoconference, with four occupational therapists specializing in this disorder. The study focused on co-occupational performance and aimed to describe the tools and strategies used, according to the Sequential Oral Sensory approach to feeding (SOS approach), to promote the generalization of learning.
The study highlights an improvement in co-occupational performance when families integrate the tools and strategies into their homes. The types of approach influence performance and inspire the choice of tools used to enable the child's learning to be generalized. However, the concept of generalization depends on the type of family partnership and the parents' commitment to the care and tools proposed. - Créteil
