aidant.

The ageing population is a growing societal reality that is leading to an increase in the
number of older people with reduced autonomy. Keeping these individuals in their own
homes relies largely on the daily commitment of informal carers, a commitment which can,
however, disrupt their occupational balance. This thesis aims to explore how occupational
therapists can support older people with reduced autonomy and their family carers within
a home nursing service. To address this question, a qualitative study was conducted with
three occupational therapists working in home nursing services, using semi-structured
interviews. The study highlighted the role of the informal carer in home care, the impact
of the loss of autonomy on their daily life, and the measures that occupational therapists
can implement to support their occupational balance. The results show that
recommending assistive devices and adapting the environment are essential ways of
reducing the daily burden on informal carers. - IFE ADERE
