  • Introduction: Nowadays, cancer is one of the most widespread diseases in the world, with a high mortality rate. Elderly people account for 60% of cancer cases in France. A high number that requires care and structures adapted to their complex problems. Often followed by side effects, oncologygeriatric patients are impacted in terms of occupational participation, social support, and volition.
These limitations still require too little intervention from the occupational therapists.

Objective: The aim of this research is to determine the relevance of setting up therapeutic group workshops. With a view to enabling the occupational therapist to support the person's social support and volitional elements in order to promote occupational participation.

Method: Based on the thematic analysis of four research interviews involving occupational therapists and nurses.

Result: The research highlights the theoretical relevance of oncology-geriatric group workshops to promote occupational participation. The research suggests that they can be used in complementarity individual sessions to improve social, personal, and volitional follow-up.

Conclusion: Oncology-geriatric support requires adaptation to the heterogeneity of patients and their needs. A patient-centered approach is needed to understand the patient’s social interactions and interests to guide care and facilitate their adherence to group workshops in occupational therapy.
