Strokes are a major public health issue, with numerous impacts not only on the patients themselves, but also and above all on their social environment, and in particular on their close ones. Indeed, as the latter live together and are at the forefront of stroke sequels, particularly cognitive impairment. It is not uncommon to find numerous negative repercussions on their physical and psychological well-being.
These impact their quality of life and can lead to a certain burden on the caregiver and a feeling of moral loneliness. In order to alleviate this phenomenon and guarantee support for caregivers, it seems necessary, particularly in day hospitals at a distance from the accident, to offer support to caregivers. This was imagined in the hypothesis, taking the form of an educational approach offered to caregivers in connection with the patients' cognitive disorders. The aim of this approach is to limit the burden and moral loneliness of the caregiver by offering them a moment of exchange and support around they own difficulties, and thus bring out different solutions.
Semi-directive interviews with five occupational therapists helped identify various problems experienced by caregivers, as well as the reasons why occupational therapists may or may not have included them in their care. In addition, organizational limitations and a lack of information allowed us to take a step back and assess the effectiveness of the hypothesis.
