La sclérose latérale amyotrophique (SLA) est une pathologie neurodégénérative à évolution rapide. Elle est marquée par des paralysies extensives conduisant au décès, le plus fréquemment par insuffisance respiratoire.
Dans le cadre de mon mémoire d’initiation à la recherche je cherche à montrer que l’ergothérapeute accompagne le patient atteint de SLA de façon plus pertinente dans l’acquisition de son premier fauteuil roulant électrique (FRE), en menant des actions en interprofessionnalité.
30 ergothérapeutes ont été invités par mail à répondre à un questionnaire disponible en ligne 8 semaines. 10 ergothérapeutes ont répondu, 5 travaillant dans des centres de références SLA et 5 dans d’autres structures. De plus, 2 ergothérapeutes ont été invités à prendre part à un entretien. Une ergothérapeute a participée.
Les résultats montrent que 90 % des ergothérapeutes disent travailler en interprofessionnalité avec des professionnels issus de toutes horizons. 100 % obtiennent un FRE AA2, le mieux adapté à la SLA. L’entretien montre que le prêt de FRE facilite l’acquisition d’un premier FRE et met en avant le travail intraprofessionnel entre ergothérapeute et ergothérapeute expert.
L’hypothèse est partiellement validée.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease with a quick evolution. It is marked by extensive paralysis leading to death, most frequently by respiratory failure.
For this research the goal was to show that occupational therapists (OT) support the patient with ALS in a more relevant way in the acquisition of the electric wheelchair (EW), when conducting interprofessional actions.
31 OTs were invited by mail to take part in a survey available on line 8 weeks. 10 OTs answered, 5 from ALS reference centres and 10 from other structures. In addition, 2 were invited to an interview, 1 answer.
Results show that 90 % of OTs say that they have an interprofessional practice with professionals from all walks of life. 100 % obtain an AA2 EW as the best adapted for people with ALS. The interview shows that the loan of EW facilitates the acquisition of a first EW and highlights intraprofessional practice between OT and ALS expert OT.
