  • Occupational therapy – Homeless people - Occupational injustices - Community-based approach
  • Homeless people suffer from occupational injustices which affect every aspect of their daily life and especially restrain their social inclusion and empowerment. These injustices inevitably affect their health. The aim of this study is to determine if the use of community-based approach in occupational therapy in favor of those people may decrease the occupational injustices that they encounter particularly by targeting the strenghtening of their self-esteem. In order to achieve that, five semi-structured interviews were conducted with occupational therapists who have supported homeless people. All of them consider that community-based approach could foster their integration as well as their occupational and social participation which could also promote their abilities and then strengthen their self-esteem. Therefore this approach may help the decrease of the occupational injustices they suffer from. Consequently, occupational therapists could use it to support homeless people.
